Sitting here waiting for bedtime. It's been a long week. The first week of Brian's holidays have passed and I haven't even realised it was holidays. This last week has been more about birthdays and all the associated things that go with that - gift wrapping, balloon and streamer decorating, cake making - making it special. It was special and I have loved to see Brian enjoy and appreciate his special day.
I'm looking forward to a slower pace next week, but also one where we get out and enjoy the holiday activities on offer. And dare I say, I'm actually looking forward to getting back to the laundry, dishes and cooking of dinners. There is a rhythm there that got thrown about a bit this past week.
We had Brian's birthday cake tonight. A Wiggles big red car cake with both Greg and Sam. I love that he is so thoughtful to not leave anyone out. And I'm so thankful that we did the Wiggles cake this year, because next year there would be a whole lot more Wiggles to make (Greg, Murray and Jeff will retire and make way for 3 new Wiggles).
Brian told me that he would make a particular face when we sang him Happy Birthday and on cue he did. It was a thankful smitten face. He also graciously thanked me (and Kevin individually) for singing Happy Birthday to him. And he sweetly thanked me for the cake. We had a conversation earlier this month that making a special cake is Mummy's way of showing her love (I think we were talking about Kevin's cake at the time). Such a sweet, sweet boy (completely biased!!).
Brian is such an absolute sweetheart xx
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Brian isn't he lovely and very sweet to be so grateful for the cake you made for him, it is such a wonderful trait for him to have. I hope you are enjoying the holidays this week and the normal routine has you feeling more relaxed. Have lots of fun spending time with your little boys. x
