Peace is something I'm really trying to embrace this holiday season. I'm pretty sure I can't achieve world peace, so I'm talking about the slow down and enjoy everything kind.
My basic plan for this year's preparations were:
October - Get excited about Christmas
November - Get things done
December - Enjoy
I've mostly achieved that, I'm much further ahead than in previous years. Today I'm working on wrapping up the last of my shopping lists and getting all of my ideas together. The thought of hitting the shops with two small children is not the best so I'll be armed with a detailed list!

And because today is the very last day that I can talk about my plans for December Daily, here they are:
- Not doing a foundation this year (clearly). It doesn't work for me and I'm ok with that.
- I intend on playing around with the A5 size, as I can purchase page protectors and a binder that will give me a similar look to Ali's binder. Last year I intended on using my 8x8 sleeves and once I punched holes in the first page I kept going. So no sleeves at all. This year will be all sleeves.
- As I'm not a scrapbooker I really enjoy following (copying, whatever you would like to call it) along with Ali's ideas. Even though this is my 4th year following along and I'm still yet to have a completed album I've learnt a lot. I know that sounds crazy and it kind of is, but I feel like I've come a long way in my ideas and my work. I will never show you the foundation from my first year - it's hideous!
- For me, achieving a completed album in December is never going to happen. I don't print from home and the whole digital thing is pretty new to me. I'll give myself til the end of February to get it done. I'm ok with that.
- I will journal everyday. And most likely come up with my story and layout for each day too.
- My album cover will be the last thing I do. I have an idea about cutting off a cover and working it back together with tape. Shall be a PROJECT!, but one I'll enjoy.
- I plan on buying Ali's 2011 December Daily 6x8.5 overlays and playing around with them to suit my size. Trial and error that I want to do and am kind of excited about.
- I FINALLY have some pens that will allow me to write directly on the photos. They aren't Sharpie, but I'm looking forward to experimenting.
- Last of all, this is a project that is worth doing. I mentioned a couple of posts ago that I've been secretly working on last years album (until Simon decided to feed every 2 hours during the day in preparation for sleeping overnight!). It's amazing to look back on those photos and those stories. December Daily is a real treasure.

Hi Brooke,
ReplyDeleteI love your plans for DD this year. It will be fun to see it when you finish the album. The best thing you can do is journal everyday so you keep the stories and not forget. Is it possible for you do order your pictures weekly and then add them in now while it's still December. I order mine online from Walgreen's. It's much easier doing that from home then going to the store, especially with little ones. I'm glad your still giving it a try this year and have learned from your past ones.
The peek on my blog is my DECEMBER ART JOURNAL not a DECEMBER DAILY. I've decided not to do one this year. I'm sorry to tell you that. This art journal is making ME VERY VERY HAPPY though. I have decided to make my PL into kinda a DD though.
Will send you an email later about my thoughts.
I love this layout by the way of your little ELF. We have that here too.
Brooke,
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say that your first thoughts on this post are what I'm feeling right now and is what my word is about and my not doing a DD. Just want some peace in the house and to relax and enjoy this month with my family. Not feeling pressured to look for a story or even take a picture. Just about being present with them. So you have planned well for you holidays. Enjoy this quiet time with your little ones.
