Easter Gift Ideas For Kids

So, I've been wanting to bring you a series of Easter ideas for the whole family, from toddlers to adults.  I even have a heap of photos on my camera to prove it.  But unfortunately unless you are sitting next to me I can't show them to you = (

As Easter is fast approaching I thought I'd still share my ideas and borrow a few photos from around the web.  Here we go:

Easter Gifts For Kids

My top tips are:

1.  A book and a couple of small solid eggs or a medium sized hollow egg.

The Humpty Dumpty eggs above are really popular.  Go with a picture book for younger kids and an easy novel for older kids.

2.  A toy and a sachet of chocolate custard with straw.

Loving the prices at Kmart right now.  Brian is getting the Medical Kit and Chocolate Custard for Easter as well as number 3 below.

3.  A small licensed egg pack that includes a product you will use later on.

This was $4 at Coles.  Brian LOVES Thomas and I regularly serve him sultanas and small snacks in egg cups.  This will be a hit!

4.  Set of shape sorter eggs in carton (from Kmart) and a Bilby finger puppet (from Darrell Lea).

This was Brian's first Easter (2009).  Not sure what's up with the tilted head.  At 2.5 years old he's still playing with both of these toys.

5.  Easter Novelties

The first image is a wind up Easter egg that we picked up at Overflow yesterday for about $2.50.  Brian absolutely loves it and is able to wind it up by himself.  I've found it to be hit with older boys too.

The next two images are from Spotlight.  Wind up eggs, pens and an Easter jigsaw puzzle.

Discount stores, craft stores (Spotlight and Lincraft) and Kmart, Big W and Target are great places to pick up all kinds of Easter toys and even craft activities.  Consider giving these gifts a few days before Easter to build excitement and extend the season.

6.  Fillable Containers

This is an awesome gift when you don't want to give chocolate.  You can fill these little guys up with a range of things from home baked goodies, to mini sultana packets, rusks or even a small toy or two.  And if you are giving them to your own child they are reusable year after year.

These particular containers are from Spotlight (about $2 each), but you can pick up a range of other fillable containers at discount stores everywhere.  They are usually about $2 for a pack of two.  My local store has fillable carrots (3pk), eggs (2pk), little hard plastic bags (6pk), eggs with polka dots (3pk) and so on.  Be sure to check back often during the season as I've found stock changes regularly.

What are you giving to the little ones in your life this Easter?

  2. Heaps of great ideas again! I've bought the girls a couple of token eggs and then a hair accessory each and some socks. For my nephews I've bought a small wooden animal and for the other some colouring in pencils. Hopefully if I get in front of my sewing machine I'll do a post of some of my handmade easter pressies. Hope you are having a good Saturday. xo
