Noosa Getaway

At the end of January we headed off for a much needed family getaway. Kevin had two weeks holiday over the Christmas break but work commitments meant that the second week was spent doing more work than he does during "non-holiday" times (we are talking hours of 7am til 2am the next morning!). So needless to say this was a much needed break! A trip to Noosa was something we hoped to do over the Christmas break, but ended up delaying until the Australia Day weekend. And we are soooo glad we did!

Kevin and I hadn't been to Noosa (swimming at the beach at least) for about 10 years! Not sure why, as we loved it last time. Our memories of our last trip were of spending seemingly hours jumping over waves on the beach. It's so peaceful there that you just can't leave.

We can't tell you how special it was to introduce Brian to such fun. It was only his second time at the beach (this was his first) and his first getting more than just his ankles wet. He spent his time in the water clinging to Kevin (Mummy wasn't trusted), laughing, saying "here's comes a big one" (referring to the waves), and jumping over the waves with Daddy. We all had a blast! I only wish I could have had a waterproof camera (or one of those disposable underwater cameras) to catch the real fun of the day.

We stayed at The Sebel Resort Noosa, right on Hastings Street (the main street). If you can, staying on Hastings Street near all the action makes for a much more relaxed holiday - especially if it's just one night. The other special thing about our room was that it was resort style. I guess as our family grows we will have to look out for more of these types of motels. The space was a blessing and meant that we felt free and not cramped like we usually do when staying away from home. It even allowed us to put Brian's cot in the living area, closing it off so we could stay up a little later in our own room.

"I'm going to get sand in my toes" became an exciting phrase for a little boy.

Breakfast vouchers for Aromas Noosa were included in our Resort stay. I'd recommend staying at The Sebel just for them alone! When eating out it's a treat for us, so I always try and remember that it's a treat for Brian too. We were able to get him a meal that included fresh mango (to him fruit = lollies) and instead of an orange juice we got him a cup of milk. The staff there were amazingly friendly and accommodating. And all the food and juices/smoothies looked like they were out of a magazine, they were so fresh. Brian's cup of milk arrived and I nearly cried, he was so excited. They had filled a take away coffee cup and inserted a straw in the mouth piece. I thought there was no way he would drink all that milk, but it was gone in about 30 seconds! Brian declared it the "best breakky ever!".

We all had a fabulous time and although it was only one night it allowed us to recharge and refresh. As I've been sitting here editing photos, Brian is playing around me and every now and then looks over and says "the best beach ever" and "the best brekky ever", so I'd say it was pretty memorable too.
