Working For Me...

Writing Christmas cards.  This was last year's one to my Nan.
I'm finding these past few days that there are a lot of things working for me right now:
  • Kevin has been watching Star Wars movies every night which gives me the chance to get on the computer, do my things, journal my day and blog.  Wow!  It's working well.  I might just need to keep the new DVDs coming!
  • Grocery shopping tonight, after putting Brian to bed.  It worked because it's done and I'm happy about that.  But I really missed Brian saying "Please scan your FlightBadge (FlyBuys) card now".  He mimics the self serve registers in perfect tone.  Highly embarrassing, but him to a T!  We won't talk about him singing the "down, down, prices are down song" at the top of his lungs.
  • Being busy, and accepting that when we are out for the day I need to eat well has helped my waistline! I've lost 5kgs recently and have done nothing for it.  I have cut back (a lot) on snacks and bad lunches, as well as soft drink and frozen drinks when out.  I'm also loving summer for the salads and a special treat would be a Caesar Salad kit on sale at the supermarket.
  • So very happy that I started early for the holiday season this year.  I've said I would every year and haven't.  Although there is still a lot to do and I'm way behind already (our tree isn't up), I'm nearing completion on a lot of other things.  Gifts are almost done, I'm more than half way through writing the Christmas cards, bon bon gifts mostly decided upon - some already purchased and we are ahead on our Advent calendar activities.  Usually we are behind on those.
  • Others doing my legwork.  Kevin is responsible for posting all of the international Christmas cards (which we have a lot of this year) and purchasing the stamps needed for all remaining cards.  My poor Mother did her own legwork on her present (from us to her).  Horrible isn't it!  But she's saved me probably an entire day at the shops.  Have you been shopping with two small children recently?  There are a lot of toilet, snack, breastfeeding, lunch and sore feet complaint breaks.  As well as "Can we go see Santa?" stops.  Back to Mum's gift, a toiletry bag for their caravanning adventures.  What happened to places selling plain regular things like a cotton toiletry bag with 2 handles and a zipper?
In all, I'm happily busy and thankful for the things working in my favour.

  1. It sounds like you are more organised than me and my girls are big. I often have my laptop out and blog while hubby sits at the other end of the coffee table and works, at least we're home together. I really need to do some online shopping too, so much easier. I'll write it in my diary for tomorrow night:) Have a good day tomorrow.

  3. This sounds great to me, your more done then I am. Congrats on the 5kilos, it really does make a difference when you cut out certain foods/drinks. That's how my weight loss started too. Such a cute story about your son singing, my one daughter loves singing at stores too. you should include that in your DD album.
Keep up the good work and enjoy the holiday.
