Doing some Christmas gift shopping at the markets this year has really taught me a thing or two. There are generally three types of markets in Brisbane. There is the foodie market, the make a buck market and the creative market. The foodie market is self explanitory - they sell fruit, vegies and other hand made edibles. The make a buck market predominately features second hand goods and cheap imported goods. The third and my personal favourite is the creative market that showcases local artists and designers. There is nothing better than buying locally from the actual person that made your gift with their own two hands!
2. Using weather forecasts to plan which days you will hang your washing out is a bad idea. Just go ahead and hang it outside! Edited at 1:35pm - As is making bold statements on your blog. Mother Nature obviously reads it!
3. What do you eat for lunch? Are you a "bring it from home" luncher or a "buyer"? The rising cost of groceries, has me calculating how much each serve costs us. For lunch Kevin has two sandwiches with ham and mustard, a piece of fruit and a tub of yoghurt. This costs us $3.38 a day, based on both of us eating the same lunch and calculating based on a 31 day month, this costs us $209.56 a month.
Although $3.38 a day for lunch isn't much, if you knew our monthly grocery budget you would be screaming, like I am. So would the pasta that Kevin has been taking to work lately be cheaper than the sandwich? I guess I'll have to cook up another batch to find out just how many serves I get out of it.
Now to totally blow your mind, if Kevin has his two sandwiches each day, I have two sandwiches each day and Brian has one sandwich each day, over a 31 day month we would need 17 loaves of bread!
